Accent Reduction? Or Just New Accent?

Great New York Times article about how we adapt accents (often called accent “reduction”). Actors and executives use the same approach to changing the sound of their speech. More than anything, it’s about intelligibility. No matter how good you are at what you do, if you can’t be understood, no one will know.
